Outcomes from the Fourth International Workshop on Food Supply Chains (WSFC2016)

This workshop hosted the annual meeting of the International Wine Supply Chain Council. This is a research organization composed by supply chain professionals involved in the improving of the international supply chains for wine. Since its foundation, the Council members understood the value of sharing their research results and collaborating with other academics and industrial partners. During the last years, the boundaries of the research were broaden. The focus partly moved to the food supply chain, involving issues such as food safety and quality, sustainability and traceability. For this reason, during the WSFC 2016, the name was changed into “The Food and Wine Supply Chain Council (F&WSCC)”. There was also a new president election: Rodolfo Garcia-Flores from CSIRO (Australia) as new president for the year 2017, and Riccardo Accorsi from University of Bologna (Italy) as president for the year 2018. The new topics of the research were discussed and food loss was identified as an important issue to explore in prevision to the next WSFC conference, which will be held in Australia (2018). Then, after 10 years, the conference will be in Bologna, Italy.
